The UFC hosted the UFC Fight Night 161 event in Tampa, Florida this past Saturday evening at the Amalie Arena. As part of the main event, Polish fighter Joanna Jedrzejczyk was back in the cage for the first time in 2019. Jedrzejczyk hadn’t fought since losing the Women’s Flyweight championship bout to Valentina Shevchenko in December 2018 at UFC 231. She looked hungry and excited to be back, breezing through 5 rounds of dominance over “Karate Hottie” Michelle Waterson.
Despite Jedrzejczyk winning via a unianimous decision, Waterson showed heart and even stunned the crowd with a Round 3 rear-naked choke attempt. Unfortunately the choke wasn’t deep enough to put away the confident former UFC Srawweight champ.
