Minotauro Nogueira Strongly Feels He Will Do Better In Rematch Fight Against Frank Mir At UFC 119

Antonio Rodrigo ‘Minotauro’ Nogueira is set to make his octagon return with a rematch against former UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir. Nogueira feels very comfortable coming into this fight, hoping to produce a better outcome against Mir this time around.
Nogueira vs Mir 2 is scheduled to take place at the Conseco Fieldhouse in Indiana on September 25th as part of the UFC 119 main event.
From Minotauro:
“I think it will be a good fight for me. In the past time I couldn’t perform well but now I can do better. It’s a fight that I always wanted and happened. I already had some bouts in my career that I lost, but whenever I had the chance to get revenge, I fought better. I will try to do the same this time. It’s tough to plan what is going on in a fight like this because Frank is a guy who fights well either on the mat or standing. I’ll feel it on time. If we go to the ground, I like it, but if it’s to exchange on the feet, I like it, too. I’ll be ready for everything.”
Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira Wants To Get Back In The UFC Heavyweight Race Badly

Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira seems pretty eager to get back into the octagon, but not only to fight…he wants to get back into the UFC heavyweight race as soon as possible. He also talks about his brother’s (Antonio Rogerio Nogueira) UFC 114 controversial win over Jason Brilz.
From Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira:
“I hope [my next fight's] soon. There’s nothing scheduled, we had Rogério’s fight this weekend, a hard fight, he did a good fight, worked on his Wrestling on the second round, won the first one, in my opinion, sure won the third and he made his game… It was a great fight! The focus was only on Rogério and now we’re starting to focus on my training, I’ll do a new camp for this next fight. Today we trained ground game, we’ve been training with kimonos, here in San Diego, two or three times a week. We started the training with the kimono and we end it without, we’re trying to improve my Jiu-Jitsu. There’s nothing scheduled yet, but I’m hoping to fight soon, I’m anxious and I have good expectations for this next battle.”

Velasquez Excited With Win Over Nogueira, Looking Forward To Fighting For UFC Title

UFC’s undefeated heavyweight fighter Cain Velasquez continues to finish every single opponent that has been handed to him by Joe Silva. Velasquez proves once again how much of a threat he is in the UFC heavyweight division.
The Mexican-American MMA fighter could be next in line for a shot at the title, but UFC President Dana White announced during the UFC 110 post-fight press conference that it will all depend on the outcome of the Frank Mir vs. Shane Carwin bout. Mir vs. Carwin is already scheduled for UFC 111 on March 27th at the Prudential Center in New Jersey.
From Cain Velasquez:
“When I threw that right hand, it just went through him…That’s all I felt. There was really no give. I just tried to follow it up with that left hook, and I saw him go down. I tried to capitalize on it. I tried not to get too anxious in there because I know he can take a lot of punishment and come back….I just have to fight a smart fight…Definitely, with those kind of guys – big, strong – you really have to be aware of their power. I think it’s always going to be a war, and you have to really fight until the end. You’ve got to really tire them out, but that’s easier said than done. But that’s how I see me going up against them is really trying to get them tired and edge out the win at the end.”
From Dana White:
“We’ll see what happens with Mir and Carwin – see who wins that – and if the guys come out unscathed, they’ll fight for the title…If not, then Cain Velasquez will get that slot…[Regarding Velasquez's knockout punch over Nogueira] I didn’t see it coming. I thought that was going to be a back-and-forth and entertaining fight, and Cain Velasquez went out and absolutely finished him and looked completely dominant and looked, in my opinion, better than he’s ever looked. The kid gets better every time he fights.”

Cain Velasquez Expects A War Against Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira At UFC 110
January 28, 2010 by admin
Filed under UFC And MMA News, UFC News
Cain Velasquez is preparing himself both mentally and physically for who seems like the toughest all-around opponent he has ever faced in his MMA career. Velasquez expects a war coming into UFC 110, admitting that Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira can be very dominant standing up with his superb boxing skills and then of course on the ground with his black belt in Jiu-Jitsu.
The Mexican-American fighter talks about covering some of the holes he saw himself having trouble with during his UFC 99 fight against Cheick Kongo. Although he was surprised with the hits he could take from Kongo and still win the bout, he still plans on fixing up some the technical aspects in his game.
From Cain Velasquez:
“I am preparing for an all-out war on February 21 in Sydney. My opponent Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira is an incredible boxer, incredible with jiu-jitsu, so I can’t really take the fight anywhere and expect it to be easy. I expect a war the whole time. I have been training with a lot more guys who specialise in jiu-jitsu to get ready for Nogueira, but other than that my training regime has been the same as usual – between two and three sessions a day. This could be the best fight of my career. When I look back on my fights in the UFC, I don’t really have a favorite yet, but definitely the one that stands out most is my battle with Cheick Kongo at UFC 99. I went through some adversity in that fight, but I wouldn’t just fall over and crumble. I got hit and I came back on top and won the fight pretty easily. I surprised myself a little bit, I was willing to take his punches and then give back what I had. I think a lot of guys would have fallen. To take that kind of hit and then capitalize, it was great, but while I was really pleased with my toughness, I was not happy with the technical side of things, getting caught like that.”
