Anderson Silva Praises Nogueira Jiu Jitsu: “I Told Rodrigo I’d Get The Submission” Against Chael Sonnen

UFC middleweight champion Anderson ‘The Spider’ Silva was getting dominated by Chael Sonnen for more than four rounds in their title fight at UFC 117.  With just two minutes remaining, Silva quickly locked in a triangle choke submission over Sonnen to save his 185-pound belt.

In a recent interview with Gracie Mag, ‘The Spider’ tells them how grateful he feels to have a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under the Nogueira brothers (Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and Antonio Rogerio Nogueira).

From Anderson Silva:

“I’m a Nogueira brothers black belt, and I’d give my life for them. I say that and I don’t need to patronize them nor them me. Rodrigo is my master and Rogério is a brother and teacher to me. If it weren’t for them, I wouldn’t be here today. I decided to put on the gi as a tribute to them and for the things I’d said. I told Rodrigo I’d get the submission in this fight. I told him that. Everything worked out yet again.”
