Dana White spoke about Randy Couture and how he feels about the entire heavyweight title situation. Although Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira became the new “interim” heavyweight champion when he defeated Tim Sylvia this past Saturday at UFC 81-Breaking Point, there is still one other UFC heavyweight belt that Couture has yet to defend.
Here’s a snip from the UFC President Dana White:
“I expect Captain America (Couture) to step up to the plate and give Nogueira the chance to win the title…Couture was knocked out twice by (Chuck) Liddell. Then, he called me and asked for the heavyweight title shot. I gave it to him. Now, it’s his turn to return the favor.”
Dana also talked about the return of Mirko Cro Cop and where he stands. Cro Cop has lost back to back fights against Gabriel Gonzaga and Cheick Kongo. So what’s next for the Croatian sensation??
Here’s what Dana White had to say about him:
“We’re waiting to hear from him… We told him we’d wait for him to make a decision, but he’s not making a decision… The deadline is pretty much up, and I need decision from him by Monday (February 4)”
On another important note, Chuck Liddell will indeed be facing Mauricio “Shogun” Rua. White made this news update official when he stated, “Liddell vs Shogun is confirmed.” The fight looks to be in June, so expect some great fight cards this summer
