K-1 World GP 2008 In Hawaii Results: Gokhan Saki Defeats Randy Kim In Final, Crowned Tournament Champion

K-1 World GP 2008 in Hawaii occurred this past weekend at the Stan Sheriff center in Honolulu, Hawaii.  The show drew 8,807 attendees and thousands more were able to watch the live show as it was aired across Japan on the Fuji television network and in South Korea on the CJ Media network.

The event held a fifth and final elimination tournament for the K-1 World GP 2008, which consisted of an 8-man elimination tournament.  The tournament winner acquired a spot at the K-1 World GP Final 16, which is scheduled to take place in Seoul, Korea on September 27th, 2008.

Here are the complete results of the K-1 World GP 2008 in Hawaii:

Reserve Fights:

  • Randy Kim defeated Vilatonu Fonokalafi via KO-punches at 1:13 of Round 1
  • Rico Verhoeven defeated Koichi Watanabe via a unanimous decision
  • Stefan Leko defeated Junior Sua via a KO-knee strike at 2:36 of Round 1

USA GP Quarter Finals:

  • Wesley "Cabbage" Correira defeated Eric "Butterbean" Esch via a KO-left kick at 0:53 of Round 2
  • Mighty Mo defeated Justice Smith via a majority decision
  • Rick Cheek defeated Nicholas Pettas via a TKO-ref stoppage at 1:15 of Round 1
  • Gokhan Saki defeated Deutsch Pu’u via KO-low kicks at 2:15 of Round 1

Super Fights:

  • Paul Slowinski defeated Azis Jahjah via KO-punches at 1:53 of Round 3
  • Min Soo Kim defeated Scott Junk via a unanimous decision
  • Badr Hari defeated Domagoj Ostojic via a KO-punch at 0:19 of Round 1

USA GP Semi-Finals:

  • Gokhan Saki defeated Rick Cheek via KO-body shot at 2:36 of Round 1
  • Randy Kim defeated Wesley "Cabbage" Correira via KO-low kicks at 1:00 of Round 2

USA GP Final:

  • Gokhan Saki defeated Randy Kim via a KO-punch at 1:39 of Round 2
