Dana White and the UFC have announced that an extra bonus check of $75,000 USD was awarded to each of the fighters who won either "submission of the night," "fight of the night" or "knockout of the night."

Here are the winners…

Submission of the Night went to:

  • Demian Maia: Maia defeated Ed "Short Fuse" Herman via a submission:triangle choke at 2:27 in the 2nd round.  It was a spectacular finish for the jiu-jitsu expert who continues his undefeated streak in the UFC.  He is currently 7-0 and has won 5 of those bouts via submission.

Fight of the Night went to:

  • Jonathan Goulet: Goulet defeated Kuniyoshi Hironaka via a technical knock out in Round 2.  It was a close fight for the two welterweights as they battled it out with continuous suspense, especially in the first round.  In the end, Goulet proved to be the better man as he was indeed the last man standing at 2:07 of the second round.  Goulet adds a third successive win to his record while Hironaka falls to 2 subsequent losses.  However, both men showed tremendous heart, which provided them with an extra $75K to keep as bonuses.

Knockout of the Night went to:

  • Jason MacDonald: MacDonald knocked out Joe Doerksen at 0:56 in Round 2.  The Canadian pleased his home crowd in the octagon on Saturday night, punishing Doerksen in the beginning of the second round.  The knockout put MacDonald back on the board as he quickly bounces back from a loss to Yushin Okami.  He too takes home $75,000 USD while Doerksen goes home with empty pockets and a third consecutive loss in his UFC career.
