UFC 85: Chuck Liddell vs. Rashad Evans Canceled

Chuck "Iceman" Liddell has been scratched off the UFC 85 bout against Rashad "Sugar" Evans.  The event was scheduled to take place on June 7th in London, England.  Orginally, Liddell was set to take on Mauricio "Shogun" Rua on that same fight card, but Shogun was scratched off due to a re-injury of his knee.  Liddell was then given Evans as his new opponent for the London fight card, but it seems like another change has been made due to unfortunate circumstances.

We have been recently informed that the Iceman suffered a torn hamstring during a training session, which has forced him to stay out of the gym until he fully recuperates.  No specific details as far as how long Liddell will be out, but it seems more than certain that he’ll be sidelined during the June event.  So maybe the Liddell vs. Rua fight will go on after all?  We’ll just have to be patient and see how things turn out.

There are rumors that James Irvin could be Rashad Evans’ new opponent, but we’ll keep everyone posted with the official candidate once we’re notified.  UFC 85 also features the return of Danish superstar Martin Kampmann after a one-year absence.  He’ll be looking to face a very tough Jorge Rivera who is coming off a knockout win over Kendall Grove.  Also on the card is heavyweight fighter Brandon "The Truth" Vera who will be facing former PrideFC jiu-jitsu contender Fabricio Werdum.
