Ruben “Warpath” Villareal tests positive for steroids

So what else is new in mixed martial arts for 2007??  It seems like a lot of these fighters don’t understand what "No Steroids allowed" really means!  It’s a disgrace to see fighters like Ruben "Warpath" Villareal, one of the most experienced MMA fighters in the game, to get mixed in that repetitive steroid issue.

Warpath recently fought for the World Cage Fighting Organization and lost to Jimmy Ambriz by way of TKO in the first round.  The event took place earlier this month at the Circus nightclub in Hollywood, California.  Warpath fought in the same event that headlined Mark Kerr vs. Steven Gavin.

It was here where the CSAC suspended and fined Villareal after he tested positive for 4-hydroxytestosterone, a steroid that develops muscle and strength slowly, but very efficiently.  This is the same steroid that was found in Vitor Belfort’s system when he fought Dan Henderson at Pride 32 on October of 2006.  The California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) has decided to suspend Villareal for one whole year and he was also fined a total of $2,500 USD.
