UFC 81: Heath Herring returns to fight undefeated IFL fighter Andre Gusmao

Heath “Texas Crazy Horse” Herring is finally ready to return to the octagon after losing a very close match with Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira at UFC 73-Stacked.  Although he had quickly knocked down Nogueira with a quick and hard left kick during the first round, it just wasn’t enough to attain the win.  Nogueira easily won the following two rounds, allowing him to take the victory via a unanimous decision.

Here’s a clip of the kick that Herring placed on Nogueira’s chin.  Kicks like these are just not enough to knock down Big Nog’s chin of steel:

Herring decided to take a big break before he returned and he feels just about ready.  His next opponent however, is an undefeated heavyweight fighter from the IFL.  Andre Gusmao is currently 5-0 and recently signed a deal with the UFC.  Prior to his UFC inking, he beat Mike Ciesnolevicz for the IFL-2007 Team championship final.  The Renzo Gracie Jiu Jitsu student will look to continue his winning streak when he confronts the former PrideFC contender, Heath Herring, at UFC 81-Breaking Point.  The only official bout in the UFC 81 Super Bowl weekend fight card is the anticipated match between former WWE superstar Brock Lesnar and former UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir.
