Roger Huerta Testing Market As Free Agent, Eyes Strikeforce As Next Possible Home

Roger Huerta training

The former UFC lightweight fighter Roger ‘El Matador’ Huerta is currently a free agent in the mixed martial arts world.  After a 16-fight winning streak, Huerta left the UFC with two straight losses against Kenny Florian (via a unanimous decision) and Gray Maynard (via a split decision).  He continues holding an impressive overall MMA record of 20-3-1, which puts him in great position to sign with almost any other organization.  ‘El Matador’ seems to have his eyes on either Strikeforce or DREAM, but is open to any offer even it means going back to the UFC.  In his contract, the UFC has the right to match any offer given to him by any MMA organization.

From Roger Huerta:

“[Regarding Strikeforce] There’s a lot of great fights in that show….It would be up to them…but I’d definitely like to fight a top-caliber fighter like (Shinya) Aoki, (interim champion Gilbert) Melendez, or (champion Josh) Thomson. Obviously, I’d have to earn my stripes in that organization, if I went there, but any of those fights would be amazing.”

From his manager Jeff Clark:

“We’re free to negotiate with other organizations now, but the UFC has the right to match (any offer)”
