The former UFC fighter Nick Diaz is set to collide against IFL veteran Jay Hieron as part of the Strikeforce ‘Carano vs. Cyborg’ main card on August 15. Diaz was signed up to fight a much long-awaited rematch against Joe “Diesel” Riggs for the vacant Strikeforce welterweight title. Unfortunately, Riggs was scratched off of the card due to an injury sustained not too long ago.
Jay Hieron was supposed to fight this upcoming weekend at the Affliction ‘Trilogy’ event. Since the entire show was canceled last Friday, Hieron was immediately called in to fill in Riggs’ spot. It was a great opportunity for Hieron as he has trained sufficiently to take on any fighter in his weight class. Not only is he prepared to take on Diaz, but he is thrilled to have a chance to fight for a title.
Both fighters will square off on August 15th at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, California as part of Strikeforce’s televised portion on Showtime.
