UFC fighter Nick Diaz is currently serving a suspension period after testing positive for marijuana following his controversial loss against Carlos Condit. Immediately after their fight, Diaz announced retirement but his MMA trainer Cesar Gracie says that a fight against current UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva would motivate him into making an Octagon return. Although Diaz would not be able to fight in the US due to his drug-related suspension, Cesar points out the possibility of fighting overseas such as in the UK or even Brazil where their fight would be approved.
Cesar also mentioned that he’d probably want Diaz and Silva to meet at a catchweight of 178 pounds, but I really doubt Silva would go down further than 185 lbs especially for a guy who typically walks around at 220-230 lbs. Nonetheless, anything is possible if the UFC and both fighters agree to this bout.
Would a fight between Anderson Silva and Nick Diaz interest you? Or do you think Diaz needs to serve his time and get back on a winning streak before a deserving shot against “The Spider”?
