K-1 World Grand Prix 2008 Results (Fukuoka, Japan)

On June 29th, 6,927 fans attended the K-1 World Grand Prix 2008 event.  The show took place at the Marine Messe Fukuoka convention center in Fukuoka, Japan. 

Fuji TV aired the the classic eight-man elimination tournament where the winner advanced to Seoul, Korea’s K-1 World GP Final 16. The event also featured the 6’11" Semmy "Hightower" Schilt as he put his Super Heavyweight belt on the line against Jerome "Geronimo" Lebanner.


Here are the official K-1 World Grand Prix 2008 results:

Super-Heavyweight Title Fight:

  • Semmy Schilt (champion) defeated Jerome Le Banner by 3-round majority decision: 2-0 (29-30, 29-30, 30-30)

Heavyweight Title Fight:

  • Badr Hari (champion) defeated Feitosa at 2:33 in Round 1 via KO right hook

Superfight:

  • Peter Aerts defeated Nortje at 2:49 via TKO- referee stoppage in Round 3.

Tournamet Preliminary Bouts:

  • Takumi Sato defeated Mitsugu Noda by 3-round majority decision: 2-0 (29-30, 29-29, 28-29). The winner advanced to the 2nd round.
  • Keijiro Maeda defeated Musashi by 3-round majority decision: 2-0 (29-30, 29-30, 30-30).  The winner advanced to the 2nd round.
  • Ewerton Teixeira defeated Tsutomu Takahagi at 2:18 via KO- knee strikes in Round 1.  The winner advanced to the 2nd round.
  • Tsuyoshi Nakasako defeated Ackah by via a unanimous decision: 3-0 (30-28, 30-29, 30-29).  The winner advanced to the 2nd
    round.

Tournament Semi-Final Bouts:

  • Keijiro Maeda defeated Takumi Sato via a unanimous decision: 3-0 (30-29, 30-29, 29-28)
  • Ewerton Teixeira defeated Tsuyoshi Nakasako via a unanimous decision: 3-0 (30-27, 30-27, 29-27)


Tournament Finals:

  • Ewerton Teixeira defeated Keijiro Maeda via a unanimous decision: 3-0 (29-30, 29-30, 28-30)
