In recent interview, UFC President Dana White announced Frankie ‘The Answer’ Edgar is the next UFC lightweight title contender to face current champion BJ Penn. After a disappointing performance by Gray Maynard at UFC Fight Night 20 against Nate Diaz, White felt that Maynard was not yet ready for a title shot.
Edgar has won three consecutive bouts including a recent submission win over Matt Veach at The Ultimate Fighter 10 Finale in December. The New Jersey fighter will be preparing for his first-ever UFC title fight that will most likely be scheduled for UFC 112 in Abu Dhabi. The April 10 fight card is already taking shape with a confirmed main event bout between current middleweight champion Anderson ‘The Spider’ Silva and Vitor ‘The Phenom’ Belfort.
