After losing to Brandon Vera, Frank Mir came back almost a year later and took out Antoni Hardonk at UFC 74-Respect (results and pics) via an impressive kimura submission in the first round. Mir was at one point UFC’s Heavyweight champion until he went through a serious motorcycle accident and he just wasn’t the same after that.
After coming back to UFC 74 (results and pics) with a win, many felt and still feel that the old Mir is definitely back. It’s really hard to predict at this point where Mir may stand, but we do know that he will be put to the test as his next opponent looks to be either Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira or Cheick Kongo.
All three fighters are coming back into the octagon with huge wins. Nogueira beat Heath “Texas Crazy Horse” Herring in an epic battle where he was able to win via a Unanimous decision. Cheick Kongo just took out Croation’s #2 Heavyweight in the world, Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic at UFC 75-Champion vs. Champion.
Who will Frank Mir face? The UFC is still deciding on who Mir will face next, but it will be a difficult match-up either way for Mir as he is trying to gain back that reputation he once had.
