During the WEC 41 post-fight press conference, several announcement were made regarding the fighter bonuses.  Each of the bonus winners pocketed an extra $10,000 USD aside from their regular salaries.  WEC 41 took place in Sacramento, California and was televised LIVE on the Versus channel.

Faber’s efforts to acquire the featherweight belt he once had led to a broken hand injury in the early rounds.  The fractured hand forced him to use more of his kicks and elbows throughout most of the bout.  Brown sensed the injury early in the fight, but Faber showed tremendous heart to keep the fight going all 5 rounds.  Faber’s hometown crowd cheered him on every second of the fight which motivated the former champ to keep the fight going despite the hand injury.

WEC 41 Bonus winners:

  • Fight of the Night awarded to the main event fighters Mike Brown and Urijah Faber.  Brown and Faber provided an action-packed war in a 5-round title match.
  • Knockout of the Night awarded to Jose Aldo who landed a flying knee on Cub Swanson to knock him out in just 8 seconds.  The knee opened up a cut above Swanson’s left eye.
  • Submission of the Night awarded to Seth Dikun who submitted Rolando Perez with a flying triangle choke in the first round.
