UFC 85 Update: Jason Day vs. Michael Bisping, Chris Leben Goes To Jail

Chris “The Crippler” Leben was scheduled to take on Michael
Bisping at the UFC 85:Bedlam event in London, England this
June. Unfortunately, we’ll be missing a
fight that many of us were really looking forward to watching.

So why was Leben forced off the fight card? Not too long ago, we informed everyone that
Leben was arrested in Clackamas County, Oregon for a DUI.  The Crippler was denied bail and was later
sentenced to 35 days of jail time.

The UFC has been very unlucky with the UFC 85 fight card. We first had Mauricio “Shogun” Rua fighting
Chuck Liddell as part of the main event. There was news that Shogun had re-injured his knee and Rashad Evans would
be Liddell’s new opponent.
During a
training session, Liddell injured his hamstring (photo) and James Irvin came in
to replace the Iceman. As part of the London card, Dana White decided
to put Michael Bisping vs. Chris Leben and Matt Hughes vs. Thiago Alves to make
up for the canceled bouts. Now Leben is
out and Jason Day has been assigned as his replacement. Day will go out on short notice to fight
Bisping at the O2 arena on June 7th.

Jason Day is coming off an impressive win over Alan Belcher
at UFC 83. Day beat Belcher via a TKO in
the first round. Bisping is also coming
into this fight after defeating Charles McCarthy via TKO in the first
round. This was Bisping’s first win as a
middleweight contender. The match-ups
been changed several times, but Dana White has done a great job in maintaining
an exciting fight card.
