UFC 82: Anderson Silva to fight Dan Henderson

The current middleweight champion, Anderson"The Spider" Silva (20-4-0), looks to be unbeatable at this point of his MMA
career.  With the 6-fight winning streak he has going on, not only has he won, but he has completely dominated his opponents like never before.  His last bout was a rematch fight with the former middlweight champion Rich "Ace" Franklin at UFC 77-Hostile Territory.  The spider was able to easily defend his title, beating Franklin down via TKO-strikes for the second time.

Now, Silva will be put to the test with a very powerful Dan Henderson at UFC 82.  During the UFC 78-Validation post-fight conference, Dana White confirmed that the fight between Anderson Silva and Dan Henderson will be scheduled for March 1st, 2008 at the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio.

Dan "Hollywood" Henderson (22-6-0) was the first MMA fighter to acquire two belts in two different weight classes within the same organization.  The former PrideFC light heavyweight and middleweight champion will be looking to fight the last bout that remains under his PrideFC contract.  Henderson continues to fight under his Pride contract and has yet to sign with the UFC, even after several meetings with Dana White.  Although Hollywood wishes to continue fighting for the UFC organization, he has admitted that the only reason why he hasn’t inked a deal was because the money just wasn’t right.

This upcoming match could be crucial for Henderson since an agreement hasn’t been met so far.  If he wins, it’s certain that he’ll be wanting an increase in that paycheck.  However, he’s going to have to get past the Brazilian Spider first.  A must-see fight at UFC 82!!!
