According to recent statement made by Travis Lutter himself, Travis will no longer be participating in the UFC 74- Respect official Fight Card due to a neck injury. Travis stated:
“ Saturday July 28th I was training and reagrivated a old injury.
After giving my neck a chance to heal I decided I was not going to be
healed in time for the fight. I would like to thank all the people that
were helping me prepare for this fight and I look forward to fighting
in the near future. “
Travis was given the opportunity to fight for the Middleweight belt against Anderson Silva at UFC 67 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Unfortunately, the match was converted into a “non-title contest” after he failed to make weight.
The Ultimate Fighter 4 Middleweight champion will be forced to fight on a later date as the length of time for recuperation is still unknown.
From MMAFight.com, we wish Travis the best of luck on his road to recovery.
