After months of negotiations between the UFC and the HBO network, the deal never went through. Dana White seemed very confident at one point, stating that he would be sure to have a winter event with HBO. It just so happens that things don’t always turn out to go your way.
Here is a snip of Ross Greenburg, the President of HBO Sports:
“After lots of discussion it became apparent that the business model doesn’t make sense for either one of us. So we agreed to go our separate ways…You never know what the future holds. We have enormous respect and admiration for the executives we dealt with at the UFC. We wish them well.”
Dana White hinted further negotiations with other TV networks, but did not indicate with who exactly. ESPN seems to be another possible network, but nothing is official as of yet.
