UFC co-owner/co-founder, Lorenzo Fertitta, seems to like everything about the #1 ranked heavyweight Fedor “The Last Emperor” Emelianenko. Although Fedor has been invited to make the UFC his new home on numerous occassions, Fertitta has failed to ink a deal with the Russian Sambo fighter.
One would think that Fedor was offered slightly more than what Affliction and M-1 Global currently pay him with, but Fertitta insists that Fedor has been given the chance to earn much more than the events he participates in nowadays.
The UFC is the most popular mixed martial arts organization in the world today, owning contracts with the best fighters around the globe. Why is Fedor such a difficult candidate for the UFC?
So why isn’t Fedor Emelianenko in the octagon? This is what Lorenzo Fertitta told tatame.com:
“That’s a great question. I don’t understand it too. He’s a great fighter, I’d love to see him in the UFC. We’ve already offered a lot of money, more than what he has being paid in other events, so it doesn’t make sense to me.”
