Kimbo Slice will be featured on tonight’s "E:60" on ESPN and ESPN HD at 7pm ET.
Kimbo first started as a ghetto street fighter in Miami, Florida who basically videotaped all of his backyard fights on youtube and other well-known video websites. After destroying a bunch of nobodies, he became known as one of the most popular street fighters throughout the world. Cage Fury Fighting Championships (CFFC), an Atlantic City MMA organization, became interested in Kimbo Slice.
Kimbo’s MMA debut came at CFFC 5 against former WBO heavyweight champion Ray Mercer. With much professional training by his current coach Bas Rutten, Kimbo quickly learned various MMA techniques and used those skills to easily defeat Mercer via a guillotine choke submission in the first round.
Kimbo was supposed to fight UFC veteran Tank Abbott, where he would be put to the test for the very first time at CFFC 6. Due to a promotion dispute, CFFC 6 was unfortunately canceled and Kimbo would later ink a fight deal with ProElite. He made his debut against Bo Cantrell at the EliteXC:Renegades event, defeating his second MMA opponent in under 20 seconds. His first defeat in a well-known organization like ProElite has helped him gain even further popularity in the heavyweight division.
