Hermes Franca was on the same boat as Sean Sherk where he was accused for using steroids for his last fight at UFC 73-Stacked. Franca had admitted that he used steroids in order to quickly recover from an ankle injury he was suffering. He knew he couldn’t change the date of his bout and it was his chance to win the Lighweight title.
After being accused for his steroid-use, he tried to appeal but failed. He was then fined $2500 and will not be able to get back into the octagon until July of 2008.
