Former UFC Heavyweight Champ Andrei Arlovski To Make Pro Boxing Debut On April 11

According to ESPN.com, the former UFC heavyweight champion Andrei "Pitbull" Arlovski, will be making his pro-boxing debut on April 11th, 2009.  Although an opponent has not been assigned to him just yet, Arlovski is set to fight as part of the preliminary card for the main event headlining Winky Wright vs. Paul Williams.

Arlovski recently faced current WAMMA heavyweight champion Fedor Arlovski at Affliction's "Day of Reckoning" event on January 24th, 2009.  The highly anticipated match started out well for Arlovski, landing several kicks and punches as he stood toe to toe with the heavyweight fighter considered #1 in the MMA world.  Nonetheless, three minutes and fourteen seconds later, Arlovski tried to be fancy by throwing a flying knee which he later regrets.  Fedor read the knee and immediately capitalized by throwing a right hook which landed right on Arlovski's chin.  Arlovski was knocked out cold, falling straight to the mat for good.

The Belarus-native had previously stated that whether he won or lost his fight with Fedor, he wanted to enter the world of boxing.  At this point of his career, it is uknown if Arlovski plans to come back to mixed martial arts.  All we know is that professional boxing is part of his plans for now and we hope to see his MMA return some time in the near future.

Best of luck Pitbull!
