The FEG Dynamite!! 2008 event is scheduled for New Year’s eve (December 31, 2008) and the official fight card has been finalized. The event will include both kickboxing (K-1) and mixed martial arts (MMA) bouts.
HDNet has announced that they will not be televising the event via an article they posted at hdnetfights.com. After reading the article, we went over to eventmagic.tv and it seems like they will be streaming the event through their website for a price of $29.95 USD and it includes 10 hours of past K-1 and Dynamite events. We have sent an e-mail over to the owners of the website for verification. We’ll keep you guys posted as far as how we’ll be able to watch the upcoming stacked event.
FEG has announced its latest bout, which is a fight between Ikuhisa "Minowaman" Minowa against K-1 specialist Errol Zimmerman. The fight will be part of the mixed martial arts portion, not the K-1 style that Zimmerman is used to being a part of.
The second announcement by FEG was that the match between Eddie Alvarez and Shinya Aoki will be officially for the WAMMA lightweight title. Aoki has won 13 of his last 15 fights. He acquried a NC (no contest) against JZ Calvancante at DREAM 1 and later lost to Joachim Hansen at DREAM 5’s lightweight grand prix 2008 final. Aoki’s most recent fight was against Todd Moore late September. He beat Moore via a neck crank submission in the first round.
Alvarez has been unstoppable since July of 2007, attaining five consecutive MMA wins since then. His most recent win was to top-ranked lightweight Tatsuya Kawajiri at DREAM 5. Alvarez was expected to step into the final that same night to face Shinya Aoki, but was unable to advance due to a cut and swollen right eye he suffered against Kawajiri. Hansen replaced Alvarez because of the injury and defeated Aoki for the DREAM lightweight title. Although Hansen promised Alvarez an immediate title match whenever Alvarez recovered, DREAM never announced a bout between both of them. Unsure of how DREAM will organize the lightweight titles in the near future, but either way the fight card looks great.
Alvarez will be taking on Aoki for the WAMMA lightweight title, while Hansen takes on JZ Calvancante as part of a regular MMA bout. Check out the action-packed fight card below, a magnificent way to end the year!
