Carlos “The Natural” Condit seemed pretty disappointed after the judges gave the split decision win to Martin “The Hitman” Kampmann in the main event of UFC Fight Night 18.  Although he felt the first two rounds should have been awarded to him, he understands the fight was too close to leave it to the judges.  Condit has acquired his first loss after 8 consecutive MMA wins.  His octagon debut started out with a defeat, but the bout itself shows that Condit does deserve to brawl with the top UFC welterweight fighters.

Here’s the snip from Condit himself as he talks to media in a UFN 18 post-fight interview:

“It was a tough fight. Kampmann did good stuff. He did well. I felt like I won the first and second rounds, but the second round was pretty close. You know … I left it to the judges decision, which is always risky…In the first round, he had that (guillotine) choke, I heard the 10-second tap so I just held my breath for 10 more seconds.  I knew the round was going to end…I did more damage, but in this game I know as well as anybody else sometimes that the guy who stays on top the most gets the nod. And that was my bad for not pushing the pace and not staying on top of him. But hats off to Martin … he did a hell of a job.”
