There has been a staph infection that has been spread to various fighters, specifically at a gym located in Bettenford, Iowa. Drew McFedries was one of several fighters that was infected tremendously toward the back of his leg.
Doctors say that a huge chunk of skin had to be removed due to the deepness of the infection. Other popular fighters that were infected with staph this year alone include Diego Sanchez, Tim Sylvia, Forrest Griffin and Spencer Fisher.
McFedries was forced to cancel his bout against Marvin Eastman, who was supposed to fight at UFC 77.
We had mentioned Eastman’s upcoming match-up against Demian Maia at UFC 77, but recently found the reason why the change of opponent for Eastman. Marvin now has to move down in weight because of this circumstance (more news on Eastman vs. Maia).
