Affliction ‘Banned’ Update: Gary “Big Daddy” Goodridge Comes In To Take On Paul Buentello, Replaces Aleksander Emelianenko

Aleksander Emelianenko seemed just about ready to take on Paul Buentello at the Affliction "Banned" event, but he was removed from the fight card because he failed to pass medical licensing requirements set by the California State Athletic Commission (CSAC).  During the Affliction press conference held last night, it was announced that Gary "Big Daddy" Goodridge was called in on short notice to replace Aleksander.

Former UFC heavyweight fighter Gary Goodridge is coming in with 2 consecutive losses, currently holding a record of 23-17-1.  The MMA veteran is an experienced heavyweight contender as he has fought in major organizations including the UFC, K-1 and he even fought with the PrideFC company for many years.

This last minute match-up between Goodridge and Buentello will be difficult for both fighters.  Credit must be given to both men for agreeing to fight on the Affliction "Banned" fight card without having enough time to study each other’s fighting techniques.  The event is scheduled to take place at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California starting at 8pm ET.  FSN and pay per view will broadcast the entire 8-fight event according to Vice President of Affliction, Tom Atencio, who announced the breaking news yesterday.
