Saw the trailer months ago and it looked like it had possibility.
Just saw the premier at the AOF in Pasadena. Really liked it. Great story, great characters and character development. Cool sound track.
The story line had, family issues and learning how life works when your path is not clear, past demons influencing peoples actions. Paying for your bad choices etc…
Even the bad guy Warden character has back story that keeps you guessing.
Ernie Reyes Jr carried the role of Johnny Cruz off through his transition of street thug to MMA fighter.
And the little flickers of comedy added to the whole experience.
As for the action and fight scenes. Top notch. Great MMA action. It was like being at a fight, but with new moves I had not seen before in the octagon. Fast action that looked painful to shoot. Intense dynamic moves and realistic reactions by the poor guy getting hit.
Ernie is FAST. Actually they (father and son) are fast. Sr and Jr combine for a memorable fight scene.
The combination of camera work and choreography set the fight scenes at the top of my “ouch”ometer. Felling like I was right there in the fight.
Ya it is no Deer Hunter. But Karate Kid and any Van Dame movies are left behind in there simplistic plots and charaters.
Not at all a over choreographed Jackie Chang Jet Lei type of movie.
I want to see it again just for the fight scenes but even the sound track was unique and interesting.
As a Martial Arts Movie I give it a 9 out of 10. But then again I don’t have a martial arts movie I rank a 10 .. yet.
This is a movie you don’t want to miss! The Premiere was awesome. It has a great message and life lessons that instructors can use with their students. Spread the word and look forward to it being released to the theaters!
This movie has everything!!!The most amazing moves. Great acting and awesome stories interweave between the characters which make me feel as if I am part of this family. Everyone is so well cast in this movie.
I LOVE actions flicks and this one is an action flick with great family drama and many levels, including a spiritual dimension that really evokes great truths about people and the dynamics between them.
Richly conceived with fully developed colorful characters this film ushers in a new dimension of what an action film can be. This film will stick with you. Just see it for yourself!
