UFC 89 Bonuses Awarded To Luis Cane, Jim Miller, Chris Lytle And Paul Taylor

The UFC 89: ‘Michael Bisping vs. Chris Leben’ event took place this past Saturday night at the National Indoor Arena in Birmingham, England.  The main fight card was televised in the United Stated via tape-delay on Spike TV and aired live on Setanta Sports for those residing in England and Ireland.

An announcement regarding bonuses was made during the UFC 89 post-fight press conference.  All fighter payouts for those that participated in the UFC 89 event will be posted as soon as it is released to the media.  The following fighters were awarded an extra $40,000 USD aside from their regular salary:

  • "Fight of the Night" was given to Chris Lytle and Paul Taylor for their action-packed bout.  Both fighters promised a fast-paced war prior to the match and they sure kept their word as they battled it out in all 3 rounds. 
  • "Knockout of the Night" was awarded to the Brazilian Luiz Cane who defeated Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou in the second round.  Cane picks up a second consecutive win and both victories were acquired by way of TKO-strikes.
  • "Submission of the Night" was acquired by Jim Miller.  Miller submitted the Frenchman David Baron via an impressive rear-naked choke.
