Abu Dhabi will have its first UFC event ever on April 10th for UFC 112. The fight card is expected to be stacked with top caliber competitors including two title fights. The reason why it’s going to be so big is because of the recent partnership between Zuffa (parent company to UFC) and Flash Entertainment (formed in 2008 by the Abu Dhabi government’s Executive Affairs Authority, they now own 10% of Zuffa).
From UFC’s managing director of international expansion, Marshall Zelaznik (props to Yahoo Sports):
“We’re going to have a big press conference in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday, with our new partners from the region, Flash. [Zuffa CEO] Lorenzo [Fertitta] and myself will be there with some of the biggest names on the UFC roster. I don’t want to give away the official announcement, but this will be a very unique show and not just because the card itself will be as good as any in UFC history.”
