Strikeforce Middleweight Title Fight Between Dan Henderson and Jake Shields Aimed For April on CBS

Dan ‘Hollywood’ Henderson will most likely make his Strikeforce debut sometime in April against Jake Shields for the middleweight title.  Henderson was recently released by the UFC just when he was one fight away from acquiring a second shot against Anderson Silva for the UFC middleweight belt.  Nonetheless, he decided to sign with the Strikeforce promotion to test the waters of another rising MMA company.

CEO Scott Coker felt Henderson deserved an immediate title shot in both the middleweight division and at light heavyweight.  After given some time to decide, it was announced that Henderson felt more comfortable starting at 185 and if successful then 205 would be his second step.  In a recent video interview with ESPN’s MMA Live show, Henderson confirmed his fight against Shields:

From Dan Henderson:

“It will be at 185 (pounds) against Shields.”
