Kevin “The Monster” Randleman recently signed with the Strikeforce promotion. After 13 months of no action, Randleman has finally inked a deal to fight Mike Whitehead on the June 6 Strikeforce ‘Lawler vs. Shields’ main fight card.
Randleman is a two-time Division 1 NCAA wrestling champion for Ohio State University and a former UFC heavyweight champion. He was also a former PrideFC heavyweight fighter with notable wins over Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic and Mauricio “Shogun” Rua (via TKO- cut in their first match-up). Randleman’s last fight was a unanimous decision win over Ryo Kawamura during the Sengoku 2 event back in May of 2008.
Whitehead is a three-time All American Wrestler, an Abu Dhabi qualifier and was a part of the Ultimate Fighter 2 reality series on Spike TV. Whitehead has won 14 of his last 15 mixed martial arts bouts, which includes a recent submission victory over Leo Pla at the M-1 Challenge 8th edition. Expect a heavyweight battle between these two MMA veterans.
The Strikeforce main event will headline a 182-pound catchweight fight between Robbie Lawler and Jake Shields.
