Randy Couture Press Conference to be Aired Live and Free Today

A Randy Couture press conference is scheduled today at 4:30pm ET where he will talk about his recent departure from the UFC.  The conference will be aired live and for free on Mark Cuban’s HDNet Fights or you can watch it online at ProElite.com via streaming video.

Randy decided to schedule this conference to let the media and his fans know the reasons for his UFC resignation.  We had learned earlier this month through brief interviews with the UFC heavyweight champion that he planned on resigning due to a low "per-fight" salary.  Randy felt that he was not being compensated the way a real champion should be compensated, while other fighters that were just coming into the UFC were acquiring a higher salary than him.

He also mentioned the fact that he only wanted to stay with the UFC to fight the best in the world and the man he hoped to fight next was Fedor Emelianenko, the man who is considered the #1 heavyweight in the world.  Unfortunately, Fedor decided to ink a deal with the new MMA organization, M-1 Global, instead of the American organization Randy is a part of.   He’ll be talking about these aspects during the press conference and much more.

Dana White also has a press conference scheduled for today at 4:00pm ET, only 30 minutes prior to Randy’s meeting.  Dana plans on talking about a new television deal,  Brock Lesnar’s recent UFC contract and December’s UFC 79 bout between Wanderlei Silva and Chuck Liddell.
