Jake Shields was crowned with the vacant Strikeforce middleweight title after a 3-round battle with Jason ‘Mayhem’ Miller this past Saturday night. Cung Le made an announcement earlier that night, stating that he had decided to return to the cage on December 19th.
Shields feels that Le has been continuously running away from him ever since he first called him out. Le is scheduled to take on Scott Smith as part of the upcoming Strikeforce ‘Evolution’ main event. A victory for Le may very well put him next in line to face Shields for the Strikeforce middleweight belt.

“Cung (Le) won’t fight me…That’s why he vacated the belt, obviously, and then fights a month later…[Why?] You’d have to ask Cung, he’s the one who vacated his belt and then decided to fight a month later.”
