Fields Dynamite!! 2008: Alistair Overeem To Face Badr Hari (Dec. 31)

Fields Dynamite!! 2008 has recently added another must-see bout as part of the K-1 portion of the fight card.  Current Strikeforce heavyweight champion Alistair "Demolition Man" Overeem has been matched up with Dutch-Moroccan heavyweight kickboxer Badr "The Golden Boy" Hari.

Alistair Overeem has won 4 of his last 5 mixed martial arts fights, acquiring a no-contest (knee to the groin) decision to former UFC heavyweight fighter Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic back in September of 2008.  Two months later, he submitted Gary Goodridge via kimura at the Glory 10: "The Battle of Arnhem" event.

At first, Fields Dynamite!! 2008 had promised a rematch bout between Cro Cop and Overeem due to the "no contest" decision.  Promoters then decided to push that fight to a later date.  Instead, Cro Cop will be taking on Hong Man Choi and Overeem will take on Hari on New Year’s eve.

The 24-year old Bad Hari recently earned his way to the final of the K-1 World GP 2008 event.  He stunned the crowd with a TKO win over Peter Aerts and then a KO over Errol Zimmerman.  Hari then faced Remy Bonjasky in the final, but was disqualified for an illegal foot stomp while Bonjasky laid flat on the ground.  Hari was first given a yellow card, but Bonjasky insisted that he was seeing double due to the stomp.  The referee later changed the card from yellow to red, automatically disqualifying Hari for good.  Hari was not paid for the illegal stomp and his K-1 heavyweight title was stripped.

The Fields Dynamite!! 2008 event is scheduled to take place on December 31, 2008 at the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan.
