Dan Henderson Waits Patiently For His Next UFC Opponent, He Wants To Fight Anderson Silva Again

Dan "Hollywood" Henderson’s last fight was against Anderson
"The Spider" Silva over at UFC 82:Pride of
a champion in March.  His loss against the UFC middleweight champ just
doesn’t seem to get out of his head.  He wants a rematch with Silva really
bad, but the only way to get there is to start climbing that ladder once again.  Henderson  became
the first fighter in MMA history to win and hold both of the 185-pound and
205-pound belts in Japan’s
PrideFC organization.  He was the unstoppable champion in Japan
prior to the PrideFC acquisition by the Fertitta brothers.

Henderson was then given
the chance to first fight Quinton
"Rampage" Jackson
for the unfication title.  Unfortunately for Henderson,
Rampage took his belt via a unanimous decision after a 5-round war.

When Henderson
dropped to 185 pounds, he was given the opportunity to fight Anderson Silva.
It was a fight that many thought could go to Henderson’s
favor, dethroning Silva for the very first time in his UFC career.  Henderson ‘s
Greco Roman background took charge at the very start of the fight, putting the
champ in danger throughout most of the first round.  However, Silva
quickly changed the fight around in the second round and it was all Silva from
there.  Silva submitted the former PrideFC champ in the second round via a
rear naked choke.

Hollywood
is presently training for his next opponent in the UFC even though Dana White
hasn’t set something up for the member of Team Quest.  Team Quest fighter
Thierry Sokoudjou recently won against Kazuhiro Nakamura at UFC 84.
Another member of the squad, Matt Lindland, will be fighting on the July 19th
Affliction fight card.

Henderson
wants to simply focus on himself again.  He’s already back in training
mode as he looks forward to working his way back up again in order to fight
Silva one more time.  Here’s a snip from Henderson
himself:

"I definitely want to get back in there and earn
another shot, mostly because I wasn’t satisfied with my performance.  I
typically don’t dwell too much on things like that, but I just feel like I
didn’t fight 100% that night.  At that level and against a man like
Anderson Silva, you have
to be at 100% to perform well.  I’m ready to move on now and I’m excited
to get back in there.  Just trying to find out who, what, when and where
and what weight class…I’m not sure yet what they have planned for me but when
they let me know I’ll be ready for anyone…Right now everything is going well
in training…we’re just plugging away and staying in shape."
