Affliction and Oscar De La Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions have officially partnered up. They will co-promote a boxing and MMA event on January 17 of 2009 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California.
The Vice President of Affliction, Tom Atencio, stated that the two companies are currently trying to negotiate some deal with HBO in a goal to broadcast future events.
Oscar De La Hoya started the ‘Golden Boy Promotions’ company in 2001 and only 5 years later, his company broke a record by selling over 2 million pay-per-views. Now, Oscar wants to expand even further by joining forces with the world’s most fastest growing sport—mixed martial arts. We’ll just have to wait and see if this new project is just as successful.
