World Victory Road 2 (WVR) is taking shape now with new contenders added to their May fight card. WVR’s second event is scheduled to take place at the Ariake Collesseum in Tokyo, Japan.
Josh "The baby faced assassin" Barnett is set to make his second appearance after having a spectacular performance at the WVR:Sengoku event in the Yoyogi National Gymnasium. After a one-year MMA absence, Barnett battled it out with Hidehiko Yoshida as part of the WVR 1 main event. It wasn’t until the third round where the baby faced assassin applied a heel hook submission victory over the Japanese superstar. Although Barnett has not been given his next opponent, he will be looking to take home a second win at the WVR 2 event.
Also on the fight card is Kevin "The Monster" Randleman who is scheduled to fight Ryo Kawamura. Randleman had stepped away from mixed martial arts for over a year and a half. His last opponent was against Mauricio
"Shogun" Rua at a PrideFC fight card in October of 2006. He lost to Shogun via a submission kneebar in the first round and prior to that he lost 4 out of 5 bouts. In an article we wrote not too long ago, Randleman explains how he’s back and better than ever, "well right now I’m 100% back to being 100%. I can honestly say that I haven’t been in this good of health since 2000." We’ll be looking forward to seeing the Monster back in MMA action real soon. He’s also expected to fight Jeff Monson as his next opponent later in June if all goes well at the World Victory Road 2 event.
EliteXC fighter Mike Pyle is expected to fight Dan Hornbuckle on this upcoming fight card as well. Pyle has won 3 of his last 4 fights and is coming off a recent win over Damir Mirenic via a kimura submission at HCF (Hardcore Championship Fighting).
