War Machine Avoids Jail Time; Felony Reduced To A Misdemeanor

The Ultimate Fighter 6 welterweight, Jon "War Machine" Koppenhaver, received a "summary probation" instead of a "formal probation" today according to his lawyers.

Not too long ago, War Machine was arrested and sent to jail for choking a man unconscious and then hitting him in the face in Las Vegas, Nevada.  Today, his attorneys helped him keep his 10-fight contract he has with the UFC and some jail time he could have served.

Here’s a snip we obtained from War Machine’s myspace:

“Today in my sentencing hearing I successfully got my felony
reduced to a misdemeanor. I received Summary Probation instead of formal
probation which was exactly what we were shooting for. No jail, none of that
nonsense. Thanks to all of you that stood by me through my court case. I am
glad that it is all behind me now and am ready to start preparing for my next
fight in the UFC May 24th!”
