UFC’s Randy Couture Not Ready To Retire: “I Don’t Think That Time Has Come Yet”

Randy Couture

Randy “The Naturual” Couture is set to take on one of Brazilian’s best Jiu-Jitsu fighters,  Antonio Rodrigo “Minotauro” Nogueira on August 29th.  Nogueira is known for his excellent ground skills, one of the most fantastic submission artists in the history of mixed martial arts.  On the other hand, Couture is known for his superb Greco-Roman wrestling skills which is expected to give Nogueira a run for his money.  Media and fans continue to ask themselves whether Couture is ready for retirement whether he wins or loses at  the upcoming UFC 102 main event.  The Natural feels relatively comfortable with fighting right now, so retirement is not a part of his agenda just yet.

From Randy Couture:

“You know I don’t worry about [retirement]. You set benchmarks for yourself in the training environment and I think when you stop reaching those benchmarks there . . . I haven’t slowed down. I’m realistic in the fact that I know at some point I will. I’m paying attention to that. I think I’ll know when the right time to step out is and I’ll be ready to move on, move forward. I’ve got lots of other things going on, so I’m not too concerned about it and I don’t think that time has come yet.”
