UFC 91 Bonuses Awarded To Hazelett, Stephens, Riley And Gurgel

The UFC 91 ‘Couture vs. Lesnar’ event drew in a crowd of 14,272 fans, earning a $4.8 million USD gate according to the President of the UFC–Dana White.  Although this event was expected to break record numbers, it was still considered as the third largest amount in the state of Nevada.  UFC 66: ‘Liddell vs. Ortiz 2’ remained second and UFC 79:Nemesis was by far the largest of them all.

During the UFC 91 post-fight press conference, Dana White awarded certain fighters that fell within the categories of "Fight of the Night", "Submission of the Night" and "Knockout of the night."  Each of the competitors that were prized, pocketed an extra $60,000 USD aside from their regular salaries.

Here are the UFC 91 bonus winners:

  • "Fight of the Night" was given to Jorge Gurgel and Aaron Riley in their action-packed bout.  Although Riley won via a unanimous decision, both fighters kept an up-tempo pace throughout all 3 rounds. 
  • "Submission of the Night" was awarded to Dustin Hazelett who defeated Tamdan McCrory
    via a reverse arm-bar submission (picture).
  • "Knockout of the Night" was given to Jeremy Stephens for his excruciating knockout punch that sent his opponent, Rafael dos Anjos, straight to the mat in the third round.
