UFC 89: Brandon Vera To Fight Keith Jardine (October 18)

The UFC recently announced a pretty nice light heavyweight match-up coming up at UFC 89.  Brandon "The Truth" Vera, who recently went down from heavyweight and into the light heavyweight division, will be looking to take on the very tough Keith "The Dean of Mean" Jardine.  The UFC 89 event is scheduled to take place on October 18th at the National Indoor Arena in London, England.

After a one-year absence, Brandon Vera made his return to the heavyweight division.  Vera didn’t start well at all, losing to Fabricio Werdum and then to Tim Sylvia.  Vera then decided to move down in weight and made his 205-pound debut against Reese Andy at UFC Fight Night 14.  Vera’s transition came out to be pretty smooth as he defeated Andy via a unanimous decision.  Now, he’ll be put to the test against the man who defeated Chuck "The Iceman" Liddell back at UFC 76.

Keith Jardine is very well-known for his awkward, yet effective style of fighting.  The heavy-handed striker has even pulled out a TKO win over the current light heavyweight champion Forrest Griffin.  Jardine will be looking forward to this upcoming fight as he is coming off a knockout loss to Wanderlei "The Axe Murderer" Silva.

Both fighters are hungry for a win as they look to stand out in what looks to be the UFC’s most competitive division.  UFC 89 will be headlining Michael Bisping vs. Chris Leben as the main event and  Spike TV will have the official broadcast (tape-delay) for FREE that evening.
