The UFC 88 event drew in 14,736 attendees at the Phillips Arena in Atlanta, Georgia. Dana White announced that the UFC organization earned a 2.6 million USD gate as well.
Bonuses were awarded to several fighters that participated at the UFC 88: "Breakthrough" event. Thiago Tavares, Kurt Pellegrino, Jason MacDonald and Rashad Evans each received an extra $60,000 USD to keep because of their great performances. Here’s how they won their bonus check:
- "Fight of the Night" was acquired by Kurt Pellegrino and Thiago Tavares. Both fighters showed great energy and effort throughout all 3 rounds of their fight. To watch the action-packed bout video between both of these great lightweight competitors, click here.
- "Submission of the Night" was awarded to Jason MacDonald who defeated Jason Lambert via a rear-naked choke submission. MacDonald was constantly pressing on Lambert and dominated the ground game throughout the fight. At 1:20 of the second round, MacDonald was able to get his back and slip in a sort of one-handed deep choke that forced Lambert tap out.
- "Knockout of the Night" was obviously given to Rashad "Sugar" Evans who basically crushed Chuck "Iceman" Liddell’s face with a huge knockout punch that put the Iceman to the ground for good.
The UFC 88 payday/salaries for each of the fighters will be posted once we are informed, so make sure to come back.
