UFC 85: Mauricio Shogun Injures Left Knee Again; Cancels Fight With Chuck Liddell

Just when most of us were really looking forward to watching Mauricio Shogun  back in action, we are informed of the unfortunate fact that he has re-injured his knee and is forced out of the UFC 85 fight card.  Shogun was scheduled to take on former UFC light heavyweight champion Chuck Liddell this June in London, England.

The former PrideFC 205-pound fighter ruptured his ACL (anterior cruciate ligament), which forced him to withdraw from his bout against the Iceman this summer.  There is absolutely no word on when Shogun will be back in the octagon.  His only fight came against Forrest Griffin at UFC 76 where Shogun lost via a rear naked choke.  His poor performance against Griffin left many of his fans wondering if he would ever be that same fighter from Pride.  His fight against Liddell would have cleared the questions many MMA fans had.

Now, the 26-year old will have to wait patiently for his full recovery if he wishes to come back soon.  He’s still very young and although he has accomplished a lot in his career, he hopes to make his fans happy as soon as he’s 100% healthy.

So  now the question is… who will Chuck face next??  There is no word on his new opponent right now, but we’ll be sure to keep you guys posted.
