Whether it’s Mauricio Shogun or Rashad Evans, it really doesn’t matter to Chuck Liddell. He is pretty much ready to take on anyone, anytime, anywhere. The Iceman was given his new opponent after Shogun was forced off the fight card earlier this week due to a re-injury of his left knee. Evans was chosen to take on the former UFC light heavyweight champion in June at the O2 arena in London, England.
The Iceman lost his belt to Quinton Jackson at UFC 71 after he had won 7 fights in a row. Just when he thought he could bounce back into title position, he fought and lost to Keith Jardine in one of Liddell’s worst performances of his UFC career. Liddell
bounced back from that 2-fight losing streak when he defeated the former PrideFC 205-pound champion via a unanimous decision.
Rashad Evans remains undefeated in the UFC with an 11-0-1 MMA record. He recently beat Michael Bisping in England via a split decision, so he already knows what to expect from the British crowd. Evans was ready to take on Thiago Alves in May at UFC 84, but Dana White felt that he would be the best man to replace the injured Shogun.
The fight card seems to be shaping up for the UFC 85 event. Also on the card is Brandon Vera who is scheduled to take on the former PrideFC heavyweight fighter Fabricio Werdum. We’ll keep everyone posted on the rest of the card once we’re informed.
