UFC 78 Validation: Medical Suspensions

At UFC 78-Validation, there was a total of 11 bouts with just about half of the fights ending by way of either TKO or KO.  Nonetheless, only 2 fighters were given medical suspensions by the New Jersey Athletic Comission.

Ed Herman defeated Joe Doerksen by knockout in the third round.  During the first round, Herman kneed Doerksen right in the face, creating a severe injury in Doerksen’s orbital bone.  Due to this, the Athletic commission has issued a medical suspension on him and he will be forced to stay away from the octagon for a total of 60 days.

The other fighter who also received a medical suspension was Akihiro Gono.  Gono suffered a wrist fracture prior to his submission win over Tamden McCrory.  The commission has issued a suspension that has not been released just yet.
