UFC 76 Drug Results: Kazuhiro Nakamura Tests Positive for Marijuana

The drug results were finally released for UFC 76-Knockout and 17 out of 18 fighters were tested negative for any drugs of abuse.  However, the former PrideFC Light Heavyweight fighter, Kazuhiro Nakamura, tested positive for marijuana.

Nakamura was fined and suspended by the California State Athletic Commission (CSAC).  A total of $500 was deducted from his paycheck along with a suspension that will prevent him from fighting until  December 21st of 2007.  Nakamura lost to Ryoto Machida during his debut last Saturday night in a fight that lasted the entire 3 rounds.  Machida was able to dominate all of the rounds as Nakamura loses via a unanimous decision.

Nick Diaz was also fined when he faced Takanori Gomi at Pride 33 in February.  Diaz won the fight with a fantastic finish, but the NSAC (Nevada State Athletic Commission) later overturned the decision and made it a no contest (NC) ruling.

Congratulations to all the fighters who tested negative and let’s hope that Nakamura stays off that weed at least until he is called to fight again.
