Tito Ortiz Turns Down Rematch with Rashad Evans

Tito Ortiz fought Rashad Evans at UFC 73-Stacked (results and pics) and the result ended up being a draw.  During their post-fight conference, Dana White was willing to set up an immediate rematch.  Unfortunately, things didn’t turn out the way it was supposed to happen and Tito explains what he is doing nowadays and why the rematch didn’t occur:

“Getting in shape. I’m doing rehab for my injuries. I’m sick
of fighting 75%. I’m trying to pay my bills, I’m injured and I’m making guys like Evans and Forrest look good. I can’t do it anymore. I’m going to take some time to take
care of myself. Everyone wants the old Tito back and I’m going to give it to
them.”

It seems like Tito wants some time for himself and it’s probably the wisest thing he can do at this point in his career.  He is only 32 and has about a few more years left in him.  Tito was the former Light Heavyweight Champion in the UFC and still holds a spectacular 15-5 record.   We hope to see the old Tito back in the UFC very soon and we’ll just have to wait until he’s ready.
