Thiago Alves On Matt Hughes: “I hope he’s in the best shape of his life because I’m ready” (UFC 85)

Thiago “Pitbull” Alves has never been more ready coming into this fight against Matt Hughes.  Both of these welterweight contenders are hungry for war and only one man will leave the cage as a winner.  Alves is set to take on the former UFC welterweight champ and for the first time in his UFC career, he is headlining the main event for a UFC pay-per-view event.

Alves is coming into the O2 arena in London, England with 5 consecutive wins.  His last win was against Judo specialist Karo Parisyan via TKO-strikes over at UFC Fight Night 13. It was because of this streak that Alves has earned his spot with the big boys.  A win this Saturday can only mean a step closer to the title.

The Muay Thai master and black belt Brazilian Jiu Jitsu expert is excited to enter that octagon at UFC 85.  Whether it’s on the floor or standing up, Alves just wants to “knock him out” and take home the win.

Here’s a snip from the Pitbull:

“I hope he’s in the best shape of his life because I’m ready…I’ve been wanting this fight for a long, long time. It’s a big opportunity for me…I had five weeks; that’s plenty of time…I was good shape already, so I think it’s perfect timing…I’m going to try to knock Matt Hughes out…I don’t know how I’m going to knock him out, but I’m going to knock him out. I’m a better striker.”
